Get Wine Smarter.

I’ve never done a course or class or certificate or degree related to wine, but then I’ve never had to. I was fortunate enough to grow up with wine drinking parents, work at a restaurant on a wine farm while studying and then end up working for a wine company that enabled (and paid me) me to taste the best wines from around the world on a daily basis. Most people aren’t so lucky. From the people I meet, most people want to learn more. 77%* of these people would do a wine course but don’t have the time to go to classes etc.
In comes GetSmarter, an online educational business that now also offers a wine course. Their 10-week wine evaluation course, run in conjunction with University of Stellenbosch (Maties is, if you didn’t know, the centre of wine studies in this country as well as the centre of rugby and crazy nights out), includes 2 practical tasting meetings but the rest is run online through notes, video lectures, discussion forums, quizzes etc. Meaning you don’t have to schlep out your busy schedule to learn more.
Sound interesting?
Check out more details on their site here. No, I’m not getting anything out of this plug, but you can! Just mention ‘The Foodie’ when you register (before this Friday) and you’ll get 10% off the course fee. Nice, huh?

Who is the Foodie? It doesn’t really matter. Bacon is god. Wine cures anything. If you believe those two facts, then we’re going to get on fine. This means you have discovered the power of food to make life better. This knowledge is imperative to the art of living well.
