The Lobster Roll. Glorious, isn’t it? You can pick ‘em up all along the east coast of the US at little roadside lobster shacks, and they’re AWESOME. The worst part about looking at these is you can’t go get one anywhere in Cape Town. Why don’t we get the local equivalent of these? It’s crayfish season now… and I’m craving one of these bad boys… with a little slaw and fries on the side. Man, I’d cut off my left arm – wait, in light of recent movie releases, we won’t be using that analogy – but I could really use one of these. With a few slices crispy bacon included. For lunch. Now.

Who is the Foodie? It doesn’t really matter. Bacon is god. Wine cures anything. If you believe those two facts, then we’re going to get on fine. This means you have discovered the power of food to make life better. This knowledge is imperative to the art of living well.

i could murder one of those. good thinking waiting ’til after lunch to post this.
We used to make something similar, with crayfish caught fresh in Pringle or Betty’s Bay. A touch of mayo or olive oil and a spot of tabasco if so inclined. Epic with roast sweet potato chips and a glass of Chenin Blanc.
I guess the problem with buying this somewhere is that they’d literally charge you that arm you mentioned… and a leg too.
When you look at the price of a recreational crayfish licence – it’s much more satisfying to catch and make them for yourself.
Sjoe that looks insanely delicious.
Try the Saturday market in Hout bay under La Cuccina…
ooh, nice tip, Chris. CHEERS!
Looks so Yummy, I’ll have crayfish at the Neighbourgoods market tomorrow!
Davido,
They used to make this at La Perla back in the day…and possibly still do, known as a Crayfish Sandwich, and you can always ask for it at the Grand too, ha ha, I think it’s on their Lunch menu……….vous vous souvenez de Baden Madame?
